Workshop-ul a fost o adevărată provocare pentru mine fiindcă eu nu vorbesc limba română. Nu e vorba numai de provocarea de a găsi personajele şi povestea potrivite, ci de asemenea de a găsi calea potrivită de a lucra cu persoane complet străine. Nu ne cunoşteam, nu ştiam nimic despre experienţa celorlalţi... Era o adevărată provocare! Iniţial am avut câteva probleme, dar când am început să ne filmăm cuplul ales pentru documentar (dl. şi dna. Olas) energia echipei a crescut din ce în ce mai mult. Cel mai plăcut sentiment este în momentul în care trăim cu toţii pentru documentar. Eu ştiu că am dat tot ce am avut mai bun. Am încercat să descopăr situaţii atât amuzante cât şi remarcabile din viaţa domnului şi doamnei Olas.
Cum este să stai cu cineva timp de 65 de ani? Cum îţi petreci timpul? Ce faci când nu sunteţi împreună? Devine rutina cotidiană un lucru special ca urmare a faptului că eşti conştient de moarte? Documentarul dezvăluie viaţa unui cuplu în vârstă, plin de umor şi de amintiri.
De-a lungul workshop-ului am învăţat cum să construiesc o relaţie cu oamenii pe care vreau să îi filmez. Am devenit mai puternică atât ca persoană cât şi ca regizor.
Familia Olas a venit să vizioneze documentarul în ultima zi a Atelierului. Eram atât de emoţionată, de abia aşteptam să aud ce vor crede. M-am simţit uşurată şi fericită când nepoata familiei Olas a venit la mine după proiecţie şi mi-a spus "Mulţumesc pentru acest cadou minunat!" Acest lucru era deja pentru mine un mare premiu. În final, documentarul nostru, Just the Two of Us, a fost ales ca fiind cel mai bun documentar de către juriul internaţional. Sunt atât de fericită!

I believe knowledge is wealth which nobody can take away from us. That is also a reason for which I applied to Aristoteles Workshop as director. The workshop was a micro-cosmos, where there were only people from the workshop. There was no outside world, no problems from outside. Only us and the documentary. Wonderful!!! It was intense, hard but also very special.
The workshop was a great challenge for me as I don't speak Romanian. It is not only the task of finding the right characters and the right story, but also to find the right way to work with complete strangers. We didn't know each other, didn't know anything about each other's work... It was a true challenge!! At first we had some problems, but when we started to film our couple (mr. and mrs. Olas) the energy of the crew got better and better. It is the best feeling when you all live for the documentary. I know I did the best I could. I tried to find funny and also powerful situations in the life of mr. and mrs. Olas.
How is it when you are with somebody for 65 years? How do you spend your time? What do you do when you are apart? Does your everyday routine become special because you are aware of passing away? The documentary uncovers the life of an old couple full of humour and memories.
Throughout the workshop I learned how to build a relationship with the people I want to film. I became stronger as a person and also as a director.
The Olas family came for the screening in the last day of the workshop. I was so nervous, just couldn't wait to hear what they will say. When the grand-daughter of the Olas came to me after the screening and said: «Thank you for this wonderful gift!», I was relieved and happy. This was already a great prize for me. After that, the documentary Just the Two of Us was selected as best documentary by the international jury. I'm sooo happy.:)
